Liu Chang
Associate Principal Bassoon
Liu Chang was born in Beijing, China. He began studying the bassoon with his father at the age of 14.
He graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing in 1985 and joined the Central Philharmonic Orchestra as a bassoonist, where he remained for eight years.
In July 1993 he joined the Singapore Symphony Orchestra as Associate Principal Bassoon. He has also been invited to perform as Principal Bassoon with the Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra and the Macau Symphony Orchestra.
In 2004 he undertook a course of study with Professor Klaus Thunemann at the Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’ in Berlin.
