Guo Siping
Guo Siping is a distinguished bassoonist born in 2001, in China. In 2019, he graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music Middle School with Prof. Zhu Jun (2013–2019). He then studied at the Royal College of Music under Prof. Martin Gatt and Roberto Giaccaglia (2019–2023) for his Bachelor’s degree and is currently pursuing a Master of Performance degree with Prof. Joost Bosdjk (2023–2025). He is awarded full scholarships for both his Bachelor’s and Master’s studies at the Royal College of Music.
Siping has achieved notable success in his musical career. During the second year of his bachelor’s study in 2020, he won the first prize in the RCM Concerto Competition and was also honored to be a Drake Calleja Trust Scholar. In 2023, he received the Munster Trust Scholarship and was selected as the recipient of the Neil Black Award. He was also chosen for the Munster Trust Recital Scheme and again, a Drake Calleja Trust Scholar. He has had his recitals at Bideford Music Club Concert, Banstead Arts Festival, and Dart Music Festival.
While taking part in various masterclasses, Siping received instruction from prominent bassoon players such as Ole Kristian and Sergio Azzolini. He was invited as Guest Principal Bassoon with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and participated in trials with The Halle Orchestra.
Siping’s musical expertise extends beyond the modern bassoon. He is also a skilled period instrument player and is proficient with historical instruments like the Dulcian, baroque bassoon, and classical bassoon. He has performed in numerous recitals across the UK, Bolivia and Salzburg with period instruments.
Siping continues to dedicate himself to his musical growth and to sharing his talent with audiences around the world.
