Zhe Wei (Wei Zhe)

Born in Changsha, Wei Zhe started violin lessons with her uncle Wei Jingwen when she was five. In 1982, she enrolled in the High School Affiliated to the Wuhan Conservatory of Music and studied with Zhou Xinming and Jiang Deshun.

Wei Zhe was accepted to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 1988 and studied with Zheng Shisheng. During her studies, she was specially invited by the Wuhan Symphony Orchestra to perform the Beethoven Violin Concerto as a soloist under conductor Han Zhong Jie, in a concert commemorating Beethoven’s 220th birthday. After graduating with honours in 1992, Wei Zhe join the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra as First Violinist.

Wei Zhe has been with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra as First Violinist since 1998. She has toured with the orchestra to the United States, Europe, Japan, China, Taiwan and other countries and regions.

She was invited to participate in the "Global Chinese Musician Orchestra" for three consecutive years from 2015 to 2017.
