This year, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) faced a challenge unlike any other it has experienced in its 40-year history. In March, concert halls were closed, and all concerts and events were cancelled. Even when the concert halls went silent, the SSO was determined to bring joy, solace, inspiration and hope through music. Within days, SSO launched a wide-ranging digital season, SSOPlayOn! , with something for everyone four days a week. Since venues re-opened for recordings, the SSO has put out a new digital concert every fortnight. The orchestra will welcome small audiences back to the concert hall in November.
Like orchestras all over the world, the COVID-19 pandemic has not only affected the way the SSO shares music, it has also impacted the orchestra financially with the cancellation of its annual Gala Benefit Dinner and loss in ticket revenues from cancelled concerts. Despite the economic challenges, the Singapore Symphony Group (SSG) is grateful to all the corporate supporters for inspiring the SSO to keep creating memorable shared experiences with music. Your contributions help the national orchestra to sustain its efforts to keep playing on for Singapore and for the world.
Thank you for supporting our mission.
