Come January 8, violinist Renaud Capuçon and pianist Nicholas Angelich joins Lan Shui at the Victoria Concert Hall for the unique Kammerkonzert, a work Berg dedicated to his beloved teacher Arnold Schoenberg and in which he explores the use of 12-tone technique. In the first half, Capuçon and Angelich team up for the radiant Violin Sonata No. 2 by Brahms.

This December, the Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO) and Singapore Symphony Children’s Choir (SSCC) will embark on their first combined tour to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, performing on December 10 at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas. The tour is supported by Singapore’s Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Cultural Diplomacy Fund.

Join the musicians of the SSO for an all-French programme at the Victoria Concert Hall come November 27. The concert opens with Chausson’s Chanson Perpetuelle, a piece inspired by a poem about a heartbroken lover singing her melancholic song. Ravel’s Piano Trio in A minor is an energetic piece, with the patriotic composer motivated to complete the work so he could join the war to defend his country. The concert closes with Fauré’s lyrical and harmonious Piano Quartet No. 1.

Gustavo Dudamel makes Asian debut with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra

The phenomenal Gustavo Dudamel, poster boy of Venezuela’s El Sistema music programme, marks his Singapore debut conducting the SSO in Dvořák's famous New World Symphony at the Esplanade Concert Hall come January 5 and 6. This will be the maestro’s first time conducting an Asian orchestra in concert. Joining him in Alban Berg’s Violin Concerto is an old friend of the SSO, Renaud Capuçon.

Come October 30, SSO Principal Harpist Gulnara Mashurova takes centrestage in Handel’s Harp Concerto No. 6 in B-flat major, a piece originally composed for the harp but later arranged for the organ. The concert also includes Debussy’s Danse sacrée et danse profane, and Introduction, Cadenza and Rondo for Harp written by Parish Alvars, who is proclaimed as the “Liszt of the harp”!
