RED BALLOON: A BRAND NEW CONCERT SERIES
In January 2019, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra will launch a brand new concert series, RED BALLOON, featuring a host of exciting international guest artistes, in a lineup of convention-defying music and genres. Be prepared to be surprised.
Reich in 60 Minutes: Minimalist. Poignant. Evocative. Steve Reich is one of America’s greatest and most influential living composers. In this concert, we feature his recent composition, Pulse, as well as City Life – imagine: street speech, car horns, subway chimes, pile drivers, door slams – all mixed with an orchestra in an electronic cityscape sinfonia. Reich in 60 Minutes will be conducted by American conductor and composer Brad Lubman, Music Director of the award-winning New York-based Ensemble Signal.
Rock in 60 Minutes: The Mothers of Invention, Daft Punk and Radiohead: orchestral reimaginations that reimagines the concert hall. The SSO performs an explosive, rock-infused, electric, genre-bending night of music, accompanied by the resounding riffs of electric guitarists Nick Omiccioli and Paul Cesarczyk. This January night of kaleidoscopic groove is conducted by Jacomo Bairos, former Principal Tuba of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and currently Music Director of the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra.
