Programme Brochure
Synopsis
Schubert once saw Beethoven in a crowded coffee house, but had no courage to approach him. "Who can do anything after Beethoven?” he wrote. It is not easy to compare these great composers, but their music speaks volumes about their inner beings. Be taken away into a world of subtle charm, lyricism and masterly craftsmanship with Schubert’s D.581 String Trio and Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 8, the second of his “Razumovsky” set – and see for yourself why they stand together on the pedestals of classical music.
