Programme Brochure
Synopsis
Much-praised at her 2018 debut with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, returning South Korean violinist Soyoung Yoon’s fiery energy makes her the perfect exponent of the popular Sibelius Violin Concerto. Canadian conductor Julian Kuerti leads the SSO in this exciting programme that takes you from Ravel’s adrenaline-shot depiction of the waltz to the sunlit rapture of his exhilarating masterpiece, Daphnis and Chloe, a vivid orchestral ode to the Greece of his dreams.
30 Sep Update: Conductor Julian Kuerti will direct this concert as Mario Venzago is indisposed due to health reasons. Soyoung Yoon will perform Sibelius’s Violin Concerto instead of Venzago’s Violin Concerto as originally programmed. There is no change to the second half of the concert.
